Richmond LAND names Princess Robinson as new Executive Director.

The Richmond LAND Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that Princess Robinson is the next Executive Director of Richmond Local Action in Neighborhood Development (LAND), effective June 25th. Princess will lead this work of promoting lasting affordability, disrupting extractive real estate forces, and conserving land for long-term community needs through methods that are governed by community members committed to transitioning Richmond and nearby areas to abundant and whole communities.

Princess enters this role with familiarity to the organization and a deep connection to the Richmond community. She started as a board member for the Richmond Community-Owned Development Enterprise (Richmond CDE) that later became Richmond LAND, and she also co-created Richmond LAND’s Tiny Home Ecovillage project. Princess is from Richmond, CA. In 2015, she started as an environmental steward revitalizing natural spaces surrounding North Richmond at Urban Tilth. Soon after, she began participating in many community service projects, neighborhood council meetings, community boards, coalitions, and more. She has supported and led many initiatives throughout Richmond actively building towards a Just Transition as well as serving on the North Richmond Municipal Advisory Board.

Princess has 5 years of experience in developing cooperative enterprises at Cooperation Richmond as well as 2 years of experience from being a cooperative educator and co-owner at East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative. In these capacities, she was able to co-create, facilitate, and implement cooperative/collective processes, procedures, and policies in addition to building friendships, relationships, and partnerships that align with the Just Transition Framework.

She is a mother, wife, and a woman of color. She attended Grant Elementary, Lovonya Dejean Middle School, Richmond High, and Contra Costa College. Recently, she became a Los Medanos Community College graduate as well.

“Our mission has always been to be a vehicle for keeping Richmond land in Richmond hands, and Princess' experience with cooperative development, land stewardship, and organizing, embodies the best of Richmond. After some difficult transitions, we look forward to having her deep roots and commitment to this place help us to grow in the years to come,” said Board Member Alex Acuña. Princess shared, “The love I have for Richmond is Real. From my first bike ride, first kiss, to having my family right here in Richmond. I have experienced ALL of Richmond. Richmond made me who I am.” Under Princess’ leadership, Richmond LAND enters its next phase of the work of building grassroots power in Richmond, CA.
